Master Trotter

Hello everyone,
I would like to take the time to introduce myself to everyone. I was born in Monticello, Arkansas but raised right here in Brazoria County my whole life. April 23, 1976, I am a proud single parent to my handsome son. I have been practicing the martial arts, starting with kung-fu, since around 1985-86’ish. I was in kung-fu with my dad for maybe a year. And felt that it wasn’t for me. I did a short bid in little league baseball, then I decided to join karate with my dad (after he left kung-fu). My dad was already taking karate before he asked me to take it with him. Obviously, I fell in love with it. Not just because I was able to be myself and have a ton of fun doing it, but because my dad was my instructor, and I was able to experience every moment with him. He made me the martial artist I am today, and I am blessed to still have him, and my mother, around to continue feeding me their blessings and wisdom.

Competing is “one” of my favorite things to do when it comes to the martial arts. I won my very first trophy as an orange at my very first tournament in New Caney, Texas back in 1987 and it was a first-place trophy in the boys sparring division. After that tournament, I was ready to take on the world. Since I started competing, I have been ranked #3 in the state, and #5 in the nation in the black belt men sparring division.

Obviously, my all-time favorite thing to do is teach martial arts. My dad started me out teaching his kids’ class when I was about 14 or 15 years old. He always told me, “If you can teach little kids, you can teach anyone”. There were times where he would let me teach an intermediate class or two. As far as the advanced class, well I was the genie pig of the class. My dad would use me to demonstrate all of the techniques, throws, and take downs. When he would show new ground fighting techniques, I was the one tapping out because he “HAD” to show the class the proper way to do technique. And I would do it all over again.

My number one goal is to be a full-time martial artist. By sharing what I love to do, with people who are eager to learn, brings me such great joy. I will be teaching my students how to perform in tournaments and demonstrations. They will learn the rules of competition sparring as well as get competition training. Self-defense/bully-defense training is also included in my curriculum.

Let’s have some fun learning martial arts!!
Thank you for your love & support,

Testimonials

Master Trotter is an excellent teacher. I fully trust him with my kids. Master Trotter's love for martial arts and his positive attitude are apparent every time I walk in the door. My two girls have improved more with him in one year than all their other training combined. This is not a glorified day care like a lot of other places. UMAF focuses on developing skills as well as developing students' discipline and respect. I can't recommend this place enough!
-Luke Hill-

Great instructor! Very knowledgeable about the art and the kids love him. He’s a champion and knows how to make a champion. Highly recommend!
-Hani Badawy-

My son has been training with Master Trotter since he was 7 years old he is now 11 years of age and bringing home medals and trophies, but more importantly, my son has opened up and is no longer shy. Master Trotter teaches him to respect himself and others while also teaching him how to defend himself. He makes it fun for kids of all ages. He's a modern-day Mr. Miyagi without having to make his students paint the fence or sand the floors, but if he did have his students doing that he would make it fun and his students would do it with a smile on their face. Much love and respect to Master Trotter for all the hard work he puts into his students. The G. Fam appreciates you!
